Kenai Peninsula Wildlife with Belknap Guide Service

The most abundant wildlife on the Kenai Peninsula is by far the Bald Eagle. Seen on a daily basis, these birds have wing spans longer than the average person. The Bald Eagle can be seen any time of the year.

One of the largest animals in North America is the Moose. We see moose on a daily basis as well. Moose are often seen running through both Kenai and Soldotna. It is not uncommon to wake up and see moose in the front yard of our lodges. One of the most impressive sights on the Kenai Peninsula is watching the young moose grow over the summer. Respect these animals, hundreds of moose a year are killed on the Sterling Highway.

Less than a mile from the Kenai Airport, Caribou are often seen in herds on the Kenai Flats. This is your best opportunity to see a Caribou on your trip, less than 5 miles from your cabin.

Belknap_Fishing_Kenai_Peninsula_Wildlife_BearsBears are seen on occasion close to town; however, they are seen on a daily basis near the Russian River. While you are on the Kenai Peninsula, the Russian River is a must-do for those interested in fishing on a Do-It-Yourself Sockeye Salmon trip. Although these bears seem to be people friendly, please be advised they are VERY dangerous animals.
