Kasilof King Salmon Fishing with Belknap Guide Service

Kasilof KingOf all of the fishing to be done on the Kenai Peninsula, the Kasilof River is by far the most peaceful trip offered. This undeveloped river is fed by Tustamena Lake and located 13 miles South of the Kenai River in Soldotna. There are no motors allowed on the Kasilof River, providing for a tranquil float down one of Alaska's best kept secrets.

In May and early June the Kasilof River is your best chance at a quality King Salmon. Although the Kenai is what people come to fish, the early run Kasilof King is why people come back. The average early run King Salmon on the Kasilof is 15-30 pounds. These early run King Salmon offer a limit of 2, which is different than any other river on the Kenai Peninsula.

The late run Kasilof King Salmon is less pressured, due to the influx of guides, as well as locals, to the Kenai River. The Kasilof River produces fish upwards of 40 pounds on a daily basis. Hooking a King Salmon from a drift boat is something every fisherman should experience. This shallow river allows for a great fight after hooking into one of it's fresh monster King Salmon. It is a guides favorite to spend the majority of his little amount of free time on this river, as it has produced many fish over 50 pounds for us.

The Kasilof River is a tidal fishery that brings a new batch of King Salmon in twice a day. There is nothing quite like waiting on the top of the tide waiting for those fish to come up the river. Again, the Kasilof River is a shallow river, with an average depth of 4 feet. Hooking into a 40 pound King Salmon in these conditions is a fight that can not be challenged. Many of my clients choose to fish the Kenai River for two days, then the Kasilof River for at least a day.
